About The AALA Roundup
The AALA Roundup is an annual gathering of members of the LGBTQIA+ community of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. Since 1984 our members have gathered in Los Angeles for this fun filled, spiritual experience known as the AALA Roundup. The three-day event features powerful speaker meetings, transformational workshops and seminars, peer-led activities, musical performances, and the annual Miss AALA Drag Competition.
The AALA Roundup is recognized by the AA General Service Office and the AA International Advisory Council (IAC). All are welcome.
this year's Roundup
To say that a lot has happened in the world since we were last at the iconic Millennium Biltmore Hotel for the 2019 AALA Roundup is an understatement. But after a two year hiatus, the 2022 AALA Roundup promises to be a magical and inspirational event that will bring together a new generation of sober fellows to celebrate recovery and form lifelong friendships. For the first time in our long history, we will welcome first-time attendees who may have as much as three years of sobriety and have not yet had the opportunity to experience the magic of AALA in person.
Attendees can expect powerful speaker meetings, thought-provoking workshops, unique games and activities, and, of course, the legendary AALA Banquet & Musical and Miss AALA Drag Show.
This year’s theme, A Brand New End, is a reference taken from page 457 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: “From experience, I’ve realized that I cannot go back and make a brand-new start. But through A.A., I can start from now and make a brand-new end.”
our committment to safety
Our priority is the health and safety of all those who attend the AALA Roundup. As such, we will employ onsite health and safety protocols that adhere to current CDC guidelines, including mask wearing, expanded availability of hand sanitizing stations, and social distancing wherever possible. In addition, the hotel has upgraded and installed MERV-13 and MERV-14 air filters throughout the building.
